
To qualify, a family must meet the following:
1) have a housing need. Examples: a leaky roof, no indoor plumbing, poor heating, exposed
electrical wires, over crowding, unsafe or unsatisfactory conditions.
2) have a steady income so that they can make their monthly mortgage payments. The family

3) be willing to “partner” with Habitat by completing 300 hours of sweat equity for a single
parent family or 600 hours for a two parent family. Children over the age of 18 are expected to
complete 200 sweat equity hours. This would be in addition to the above mentioned family
hours.
4) be a resident of Berkeley County for a period of at least twelve months or work in Berkeley
County for the last two years.
