Willia MaeMy name is Willia Mae Gadson. I’m 51 years old and a mother of 2. I reside in Berkeley County and am employed by Berkeley County School District as a cafeteria employee for Cane Bay High School.

I am the grandmother of 6 beautiful grand kids. T’keyah Gadson is 16 years old and in the 10th grade at Cane Bay High. She would someday like to become an actress/singer. Tysheem and Shyeem Gadson are 15-year-old twins and are in the 9th grade at Stratford High. Tysheem would someday like to be an artist and his twin brother, Shyeem wants to be an NBA basketball player. William Gadson is 12 years old and in the 6th grade at College Park Middle School. He would like to someday be an NFL football player. Tatyana Gadson is 10 years old, in the 3rd grade at Cane Bay Elementary and someday would like to be a teacher.
Daijah Gadson is 8 years old and in the 2nd grade at Cane Bay Elementary. She would someday like to be a singer. I am very proud of all of them.

I was very determined to keep them together as a family. An incident occurred several yearsWillia Mae ago that unfortunately placed them in foster care, but I knew that I couldn’t leave them there. I fought and struggled until I brought them all together. Now, we are a happy family, although it has been really hard trying to fit 6 kids plus myself into a 3 bedroom home. The condition of the home is neither great nor suitable for 6 kids and neither is the location, but we have to do what we can do until we can do better. I applied for a Habitat home last fall and prayed on it hard. I never dreamt that my prayer would be answered so quickly. When I received the letter that we were accepted, I read the letter over and over in disbelief. I was overjoyed with gratitude. God answered my prayer and I will be forever grateful.
